NFL 2025 season: Week six
Real-time updates features text commentary for the weekend matchups on various channels, starting with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (from 14:00 BST). Additionally, audio coverage can be heard through select stations for a separate game (beginning at 9 PM BST).
It's week six of the NFL season , following recent talk regarding the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as a potential Super Bowl match-up, they both lost their unbeaten records.
Notable in those games were the number of penalties both conceded. The Eagles did so in key moments meaning they essentially beat themselves after leading by two touchdowns going into the fourth period versus the Denver Broncos, set to play in London this weekend.
But it was good to see how Denver's QB Bo Nix was able to overcome that deficit before lead three successful possessions on three possessions in the fourth quarter, to win the victory by four points.
Denver boast the defensive player of the year in cornerback Pat Surtain II. They rank number one in red zone defence, whereas Philadelphia are number one in red zone offence, yet the Broncos won that battle.
They executed effective strategies regarding disguised blitzes. They weren't always sending more than four defenders instead they could plug two LBs in the interior then drop them out and dispatch a nickel from the outside.
At the start of the season, it was noted on a program how the Broncos could be the current year's surprise contenders. They finished the previous year strongly and did a good job in continuing that momentum.
Could Denver be this season's underdog story?
New TE Evan Engram has excelled significantly while recent running back their rusher is a player they believe in. He now ranks 5th league-wide for rushing yards (402) and tied-fourth in rushing scores (4).
I love that head coach the Broncos' leader has "RUSH!" at the top of his playcall sheet.
That shows that the Broncos are a squad that wants to prioritize the run, because one can achieve much based on that approach. It slows opposing rushes and keeps you in positive down and distances.
It's also helped QB the young passer, who entered into the league as a first-round selection last year, throwing 29 touchdown passes – second only to a star QB in rookie records (31 in 2020).
Other elite QBs possess powerful arms to throw all over, however they don't move in the same way as Nix. He boasts incredible arm talent, which is different, and he's so athletic.
His strengths include his mobility, the capacity to throw on the run, as well as finding different arm angles to deliver the pass when he rolls out of the pocket, on rollouts. He can throw that layered pass over the middle and over the corner.
For a young quarterback, aged 25, he's got great poise in the pocket and is not really fazed by the blitz. He aims to avoid a sack whenever possible and can pass under pressure. He possesses a high football IQ and remains very decisive.
When you constantly run the ball it eats up the clock and makes the defence to be on the field for longer, and when you have a mobile QB the defense has to defend the field vertically side to side. This proves draining.
The quarterback has pushed back with the coach during games sometimes and I think the coach appreciates that fire, that he's a fierce rival. I think it's exciting for him to coach a young quarterback who's similar to moldable clay. He can truly build something up the way he desires to build it. I think it's a unique opportunity for him.
Payton owns a Super Bowl and has passed a legend for career NFL wins (173 - tied 14th overall). He has witnessed everything. I think the achievements the Broncos are experiencing offensively is largely due to his guidance, his schemes, his situational awareness – and the combination with Nix helps shape him into who he is.
You wouldn't want a better guy in your ear, to assist you during some of the tougher situations and boost self-belief.
I believe in the Broncos' defense, in the QB's grit and calm. Yet are they good enough to go against an elite team at its best? Since that wasn't a Super Bowl performance by the Eagles last Sunday.
Currently, I don't think the Broncos are incredible. They're performing better than most, which is a good place to be in the AFC West. The key to do is maintain this trajectory.
They're really good at embracing their strength, that is the ground game, and this is exactly what they should do against the Jets at Tottenham. It will likely be a Dobbins-focused game, in essence.
New York have allowed 140 rushing yards per game (among the worst), five rushing touchdowns this season (in the bottom ten), and they're the only team without a win any game.
Since the NFL started recording turnovers in 1933, this team are the first team to go without any turnovers in five outings, which is kind of shocking considering that the head coach Aaron Glenn a defensive coach at the Detroit Lions.
Patrick Mahomes says the Chiefs are off to a poor start following Monday's defeat to Jacksonville.
Following this Sunday's game, Denver face a manageable slate up to their bye (in week twelve) - the New York Giants, the Cowboys, the Texans plus the Raiders prior to the Kansas City Chiefs.
In their division, Kansas City hold a losing record while Denver are even with the Los Angeles Chargers at 3-2 so they could make a run at leading the division.
This hinges upon which form Kansas City shows up they meet since the Broncos {beat|def
