The Streaming Giant Chooses Perfect Star for Bentham in the Hit Series Third Season
Baroque Works is poised to make a major impact in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, although the real showdown won’t take place until season 3, and a beloved, audience-beloved member has now been chosen.
Netflix announced Tuesday that Cole Escola has joined the One Piece cast for the third season and will embody Bentham. The role possesses the power to transform into an exact copy of anyone they’ve touched with their dominant hand. Escola, who is gender non-conforming and uses they/them pronouns, will depict a rendition of that figure re-envisioned as non-binary, instead of as a drag performer, in the real-life adaptation, unlike the original manga and cartoon version.
The new cast member will work alongside multiple recently announced actors who will portray the group to life, such as chief Sir Crocodile, played by the well-known actor, a talented actress as a key member, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who is also part of the cast as the monarch of the desert kingdom.
Even though this character is a important part of the group, the persona won’t make their debut One Piece season 3. Considering the second season expected to adapt the Little Garden segment, this marks a major departure in the schedule of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could signal additional alterations to the plot development.
Escola’s blend of sharp comedic timing and profound feeling makes them a ideal selection for the character. Besides their latest vocal work in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and numerous honors for creating and performing in the popular theatrical show Oh Mary!, highlighting the versatility they’ll contribute to one of One Piece’s highly regarded roles.
The streaming service’s real-life One Piece series is set to return for its season two on March 10, 2026.
