The President Calls Relatives of Attacked Guard Members to White House

President Trump announced on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the presidential home.

He added that he spoke to her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.

Information on the Tragic Incident

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a attack on last Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Memorials across West Virginia have taken place in their memory.

White House Offer

The commander-in-chief explained he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both individuals of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” Trump addressed journalists. “And in the same way with him, no matter the outcome.”

Attendees came together over the past few days at the high school in the state to remember Beckstrom.

Both the soldiers had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of the president’s government program to assist public safety in Washington DC.

Honoring Beckstrom

“She was the kind of student that teachers hoped for. She carried herself with quiet strength, a contagious smile and a positive energy that encouraged those around her,” the principal, the leader of her former high school, informed the Associated Press. “She was kind, compassionate and always willing to help others.”

Service details for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Judicial Measures and Government Adjustments

Officials have charged a 29-year-old suspect with a charge of first-degree murder and charges of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The tragedy led the Trump administration to suspend asylum processing and temporarily stop providing visas to possessors of Afghan passports.

Status of Wolfe

The airman, a resident of Martinsburg, started his military career in 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, per the AP.

He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s governor the governor mentioned on television.

The state’s top lawyer Bondi told the program that she aimed to meet with Wolfe’s family.

Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a law enforcement officer with honor, as stated by the state guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she definitely had fortitude,” the governor told the gathering at the vigil. “Though her life was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
