Soccer Analyst Chris Sutton Takes On Singer Murs in Premier League Predictions
The Gunners' ten-match victorious streak came to an end by Sunderland before the global break, but can the Premier League leaders recover against local foes Spurs this weekend?
"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this game," stated soccer expert Chris Sutton.
"The Spurs manager will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still manage to win."
The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, versus AI, readers and a range of guests.
For the twelfth round, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.
The singer's new album, the new release, is available on Friday.
Soccer and Family Life
Murs is a skilled soccer player as well as a accomplished artist and has been a featured player of multiple charity football matches down the years - but he is not intending a professional return as a footballer.
"{I actually played in a charity match the other night for a mate of mine," he said. "The team was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!
"I continue to love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it seriously again.
"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my child or boy decides to play instead."
The singer and his spouse Amelia Tank have two children, their daughter and Albert, and he is prepared to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their manager.
"I will not push football on our kids but I've already told Amelia that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be coaching their weekend football team," he added.
"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly owned a football club for a period too.
"My dad coached with us when I was a child, which is probably where I get it from. He coached our team for two or three seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"
Premier League Forecasts
Saturday, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
The Blues might have to be patient for their star's return from injury but their attack is now more potent with Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.
In my opinion this fixture will be fairly close, though. Burnley are disciplined and their only at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.
It suggests a 1-1 tie to me, but I am in fact going to go with Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.
The expert's forecast: 1-2
Olly's pick: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3
Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have been defeated in their past two games - although both of them were away - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which shocked me.
On the other hand, the Hammers secured back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at their stadium, they appear competitive again.
The Hammers' only away victory this season came at Forest in the summer, when West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo was previously that team's coach.
Therefore, what exactly do I predict here - will it be West Ham extending their streak under their manager, or Bournemouth responding?
I am going to choose Bournemouth, because I think what happened against Villa was a blip.
Sutton's prediction: 2-0
Olly's outlook: The home team are performing strongly but West Ham have picked up under their boss. 2-2
AI's prediction: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Brentford were seen as one of the frontrunners for relegation before the season started, but they have impressed a several observers under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three in their last four matches.
A family member advised me to select Brentford striker Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks back and, guess what, I ignored the advice.
The forward will probably score again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or back Brentford at Amex Stadium.
They have not had great fortune on the travel this season, and the Seagulls are consistently decent at home. Brentford will attempt to hit them on the counter-attack but I think Fabian Hurzeler's side carry much more of a threat.
The analyst's forecast: 2-1
Olly's prediction: It could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a many scores but it actually turns out to be rather tight. 1-1
AI's prediction: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
This is a huge fixture for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six games.
They have got lots of talent in their team but it nonetheless seems like they could be dragged into a relegation fight.
Regarding Sunderland, well they are the unexpected success of the top flight campaign so far.
Their performance in the two-all draw with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We've not witnessed anyone else rough up the North London side like that this season, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.
The logical choice would be to support the Black Cats here, because they are clearly capable of disrupting the hosts up too and, the last time they were in west London, they beat the Blues at the end of October.
But I am not going to do that. Rather, I truly need to continue opposing Sunderland with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their good outcomes because they evidently love to defy my predictions.
Looking at Fulham's home form, the sole team they have lost to is the league leaders. Marco Silva's team will be absolutely eager for a good result, so I am going to predict they will secure three points.
Sutton's forecast: 1-0
Olly's prediction: I know Sunderland are performing strongly and also that the hosts are on a poor streak... but Fulham have nonetheless been respectable at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0
The algorithm's prediction: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a tough fixture to predict. Liverpool have lost seven of their last ten games in every tournament, but could they be one of the teams who profit from the {international break|
