Brian Eno Calls On Backing to Get Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Christmas No 1.
A charity drive is aiming to send a Palestinian lullaby to the peak of the festive singles chart. The project seeks to deliver assistance to people in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.
A Chance for Unity and an "Chart Upset"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a chance to support Palestinians this festive season. He remarked the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he said. “I won't be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, festive releases are a unique phenomenon.”
Resilient Spirit of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the version of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's powerful central theme.
“The song holds a profound significance for countless listeners,” Barghouti said. “The essence is that I would rather die in dignity than spend my life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we desire to exist a life of dignity that we merit as a people.”
Production History and Contributing Musicians
The track was produced following a large-scale benefit event held in late summer. First conceived to be performed and recorded live, the piece was shelved during the concert due to scheduling overruns.
The notable list of artists appearing on Lullaby encompasses a group of prominent voices from the industry. All participated in the benefit event, which reportedly raised a significant sum for relief efforts.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was brought to life by a team of music creators. The song features a combination of the original Arabic with new English lyrics.
The group managing the campaign have clarified that their aim is to collect the highest amount for a dedicated fund. These proceeds will be distributed to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an non-profit partner.
“We don’t have a fixed goal,” a spokesperson commented. “We aim for the maximum achievable. Obviously, the higher the total, the greater the impact. Every penny goes out to those in need in Gaza.”
The situation in the region was characterized as its widespread damage, with a vast majority of buildings described as destroyed or damaged.
“Against that backdrop, a few million is unlikely to make that much difference. But I think what does make a difference is above all raising awareness for this issue and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is scheduled for release on Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the benefit event will be made available for streaming on a major video platform from mid-December.
