Beloved Actor Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Recognized For Parts in Friends and The Middle, Dies at the Age of Sixty.

US performer Finn, who was seen in beloved programs such as Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has succumbed at the age of 60.

The comedy and improvisation performer succumbed at his home in Los Angeles this Monday following cancer treatment beginning in 2022, per media reports.

"Pat saw everyone as a friend - just potential friends he hadn't encountered," his relatives shared in a message.

They continued that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with joy and exuberance".

A Notable Career on Screen

Finn's first television role was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the brother of the main character.

He was also seen in a regular part on "Murphy Brown" from 1995 to 1997.

He appeared as the character Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, playing a host known to delegate burdensome jobs to his guests.

During the 90s and 2000s, he had guest spots on a variety of popular shows, like:

  • "King of Queens"
  • "Friends"
  • That '70s Show
  • House, M.D.

He was most recognized for playing Bill Norwood in "The Middle", starring in eight seasons over nearly a decade.

His work in movies encompass "It's Complicated" and "Santa Paws 2".

A Life in Improv

Away from his acting parts, Finn was an improv performer and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.

He was a member of a six-person improv troupe named "Beer Shark Mice".

"He coached, befriended and mentored countless students throughout the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone anywhere who has an unkind word to say about him," his relatives stated.

Paying homage, peer Richard Kind remarked there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, grounded individual you could encounter".

"Always positive, making those around him better and funnier. An excellent dad and person," he posted publicly.
